We are optimistic about your business! That's right, optimistic! For many of you, it's a word you may have been reluctant to use over the past two years and rightly so. But we think it's time to put it back in the vocabulary.

One of the perks of being a partner at AMS is that we have an opportunity to meet technology industry leaders. Our clients' board members and committee members are the movers and shakers in technology companies. Over the past two years, we've experienced the heart-wrenching reality of too much e-mail that begins, "I'm sad to report that my company has eliminated my position..." from these industry leaders. At AMS, we've also been affected by the downturn. Fortunately, we are beginning to hear a different message from our friends in the industry. Companies are moving out of mere survival mode and shifting to the innovation and growth mode that makes the technology industry such an exciting one. After all, engineers don't just stop coming up with new ideas in a down economy! Phones don't get bigger. Computer chips don't get slower. Quite the opposite. There is a host of new wired and wireless technologies in development that are sure to excite consumers.

So what are we doing at AMS to get ready for this renewed focus on innovation? We've rolled out our Association Resources Online (ARO) web tool set. ARO provides a comprehensive infrastructure for forum communications and standards development. We are currently in the process of moving our clients on to ARO and so far, the feedback has been terrific. If you haven't heard about ARO, please ask your executive director about it. We'd be happy to give you a demonstration!

We have also expanded our AMS Event Services capabilities. At SUPERCOMM 2003, AMS Event Services managed a very special event for Samsung featuring entertainer Jeff Foxworthy at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Even if your plans don't include having a celebrity host, AMS Event Services is equipped to make ensure you have everything you need for a successful event - from determining the best location to negotiating discount hotel rooms to obtaining a wireless network.

We look forward to a good 2003 with you and a downright great 2004 for technology. Yep, we're optimistic about your business and we hope you are too.

Sincerely yours,

Kirsten Machi
